About The Conference

(See conference flayer in PL)

The intensive processes of globalization pose new challenges to contemporary society, the responses to which are often provided by science and education as the generators of innovative solutions. Industrial revolutions in the countries of Europe at the beginning of the 19th century prompted the appearance of utilitarian (practical) approach to education, thus promoting the emergence and development of higher technical education institutions. Due to the need for highly qualified technical professionals in the early 19th century there were created higher technical schools in Prague and Vienna. In 1844 the Tsisar-Royal Real-Trade Academy in Lviv was transformed into the Tsisar-Royal Technical Academy. Despite the political upheavals of the 19th and 20th centuries and relocation of scientific schools, the family of technical institutions of the region was enlarged by new centres of education and science. The continuous necessity to look for responses to identical challenges led to formation of the intellectual elite who perceived themselves as the only professional community not limited by political boundaries and united by the idea of European development. The common historical origin of higher technical education in Central and Eastern Europe provided an impetus for arranging this scientific conference.
